Corsage Revival

In the 18th century pinning posies, or any other cluster of buds, on your bodice, between your cleavage was quite the chic thing to do.  Back then they also called the bodice a corsage, and somehow, corsage came to mean the cluster of flowers pinned to a prom date or mother of the bride/groom.  Hmm, seems like there should be more corsage occasions in between those two rights of passage.  

In my favorite classic old movies cocktails at a club meant white dinner jackets, dresses with tulle underskirts and a corsage pinned to a satin clutch.  In homage to that look I've been playing with fabric flowers on bags.

Sparkling

Once again, my Etsy friend from Texas has a brilliant (literally) idea to bring together a patchwork belt with a rhinestone buckle.  Why do we northeasterners never think of stuff like this on our own--perhaps its just me?  Hmm, time I work on my sparkle sensitivity a bit more.

Hello all!  Recently I found a remarkable site called 1000markets.com that sells beautifully made and presented handcrafted goods.  I'm happy to say that I passed their juried evaluation and now have a shop there as well.   If you have a chance please visit this site and browse through all the shops--it feels like walking through the main street of a very cool little town.

Sparkling Crystal

Can't seem to peg LBFs design identity...going from modern country patchwork to now finding a fabric marriage for these:

Real Czech crystal set in prongs, not glued--my delight when I found them, far outweighed their cost.  Then I couldn't help my self to the enameled flower ones either.  I may have a fabric and design in mind for these.

St. Bede's Guild Christmas Fundraiser

What a terrific event!  The St. Bede's Ladies Guild created an extravagant shopping boulevard of boutiques, craftspeople and artists winding through the lush rooms of the Pittsburgh Field Club.  

Cookies, coffee and cocoa warmed our tummies before the lunch and fashion show.

Mini Lu remembered coming here this summer for the swim championships--very different today with 2 inches of snow covering their pool.
